Description
We are looking for Detail Officers!

This position is responsible for performing security and manual labor duties to ensure the safety and supervision of offenders assigned to work details. These details typically involve tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, roadsides, and bridges.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervises and Oversees Offender Work Crews: Provides direct supervision and guidance to offenders assigned to outside work details, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and assigned tasks. Continuously monitors offender behavior, activities, and interactions to maintain order and accountability.
  • Enforces Discipline and Facility Regulations: Maintains discipline among offenders by enforcing established rules, regulations, and behavioral expectations as outlined by the correctional facility. Addresses violations and reports incidents promptly.
  • Conducts Headcounts and Security Searches: Performs routine and random headcounts of offenders to verify attendance and accountability. Conducts searches of offenders, vehicles, tools, and surrounding work areas to detect and confiscate contraband, weapons, or unauthorized items.
  • Participates in and Oversees Field Work: Actively engages in and supervises road, roadside, and bridge construction, maintenance, and repair tasks, ensuring that work is completed efficiently and meets quality standards.
  • Coordinates Equipment and Materials: Identifies project needs and ensures the appropriate tools, materials, machinery, and safety equipment are available and in good working condition for each work detail.
  • Monitors and Evaluates Work Progress: Tracks the progress of work assignments, conducts on-site inspections of ongoing and completed projects, and ensures tasks are completed to standard. Verifies completion and facilitates the secure return of offenders to the correctional facility.
  • Maintains Worksite Security and Safety: Ensures the safety and security of the work environment for both staff and offenders by following established safety protocols, maintaining situational awareness, and responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • And two (2) years of experience in road construction/maintenance, equipment operation, or a related field;
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Basic Corrections Officer Training (BCOT) certification within six (6) months of hire.
