Description
We are looking for a Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Corrections.
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled/mechanical work functions associated with maintenance of automotive and mechanical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in automotive maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification for Correctional Officers within twelve (12) months of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises inmates assigned to the service truck; monitors inmate activities to ensure security; instructs inmates on proper work techniques; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment (such as pumping fuel into vehicles, checking/replacing fluid levels, draining/replacing oil, changing/replacing filters, lubricating mechanical parts, replacing belts/hoses, checking batteries, adjusting brakes and clutches, greasing equipment, flushing radiators, etc
- Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep tools and equipment in good working condition; reports faulty equipment for repair.
- Maintains inventory of service truck equipment, tools and supplies; initiates requests for new or replacement materials.
- Prepares and receives various forms, reports, logs, work orders, requisitions, or other documentation.
