Description
We are looking for an Assistant Information Technology Director!

The purpose of this classification is to plan, direct and manage activities of the Information Technology Department, to provide service to all departments and to ensure systems and networks operate effectively and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Provides advice, direction and technical expertise in the completion of departmental work load; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
  • Manages and ensures effectiveness of servers, including Active Directory (AD), Structured Query Language (SQL), and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software. 
  • Performs server administration tasks in a VMWare Environment, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together.
  • Manage VMWare environment, including ESX, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, backup and recovery of virtual machines and virtual servers.
  • Oversees the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in AD; adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords.
  • Administer, Maintain, and monitor issues in Microsoft Entra ID/ Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, and act as primary or backup administrator for key business systems
  • Analyzes technology needs of County departments to determine software and hardware requirements; reviews hardware capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine whether requested programs or changes can be made to current systems; reviews program requirements to determine whether software should be developed internally or obtained from an outside source.
  • Researches a variety of technology equipment for County departments; evaluates equipment and makes recommendations regarding which hardware best meets the needs of the County; obtains quotes for new equipment, including printers, computers, servers, video conferencing equipment or other equipment.
  • Operates various computer systems and peripheral equipment to input, modify, and process data.
  • Enters commands into computer system via keyboard to clear computer system, start operations, correct errors, install software programs, operate peripheral equipment, and perform related functions.
  • Performs data entry functions as relating to system programming and design tasks, by keying data into computer system; retrieves, reviews or modifies data in computer database; verifies accuracy of entered data; makes corrections as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Vocational/Technical Diploma in Computer Science or related field, and four (4) years of experience as a systems analyst, network analyst, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
