We are looking for a SPORTS COORDINATOR!
The purpose of this classification is to be responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and supervising a variety of athletic programs for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The purpose of this classification is to be responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and supervising a variety of athletic programs for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, organizes, and manages a comprehensive schedule of sports programs and special events; coordinates with external associations to secure game officials such as umpires and referees.
- Designs and oversees player and coach development initiatives, including clinics and training sessions; ensures alignment with departmental objectives and conducts post-program evaluations.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time staff, game officials, and volunteers involved in recreational sports activities.
- Prepares and disseminates promotional materials for various media outlets; delivers presentations to community groups to promote sports programs and events.
- Organizes all-star team activities, including the selection of players and coaches, tournament hosting logistics, and coordination of travel for out-of-town competitions.
- Partners with local community and civic organizations to plan and execute special athletic events; manages inventory and facilitates the procurement process for sports equipment.
- Compiles and submits detailed reports on activities, participation, program effectiveness, and budget expenditures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely related field.
- Along with at least one (1) year of experience in sports coordination or a related area.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
