We are looking for a Mechanic, Corrections.

The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled/mechanical work functions associated with maintenance of automotive and mechanical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises inmates assigned to the service truck; monitors inmate activities to ensure security; instructs inmates on proper work techniques; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment (such as pumping fuel into vehicles, checking/replacing fluid levels, draining/replacing oil, changing/replacing filters, lubricating mechanical parts, replacing belts/hoses, checking batteries, adjusting brakes and clutches, greasing equipment, flushing radiators, etc
• Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep tools and equipment in good working condition; reports faulty equipment for repair.
• Maintains inventory of service truck equipment, tools and supplies; initiates requests for new or replacement materials.
• Prepares and receives various forms, reports, logs, work orders, requisitions, or other documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in automotive maintenance or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must posses or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Correctional Officer Certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
