Description
We are looking for a Division Manager!

The purpose of this classification is to perform supervisory work functions associated with planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and repair of parks and facilities for the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Department.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; directs work, counsels, disciplines, and completes employee performance appraisals; interviews job applicants and makes hiring recommendations.
  • Supervises and monitors a work crew of offenders assigned to building/grounds construction and maintenance projects; monitors offender activities to ensure security; instructs offenders on proper work techniques.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs operations and activities, to include project coordination and parks and facilities maintenance.
  • Inspects parks and facilities; determines maintenance needs; develops maintenance schedules; ensures that parks and facilities meet requirements of all applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Organizes and prioritizes division workload; makes work assignments; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work; ensures appropriate staffing levels to complete work projects; coordinates offender labor.
  • Develops and administers division budget; monitors expenditures for fiscal compliance.
  • Supervises labor/repair functions such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, construction/remodeling work, and routine/preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Drives the offender bus to transport offenders to specific work locations.
Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical diploma in building trades.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in building and grounds maintenance, equipment operation, or a related field. 
  • Candidates may qualify with any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid commercial drivers license.
  • Must possess and maintain valid Correctional Officer Certification.
