Description
We are looking for a Principal Tax Clerk!

The purpose of this classification is to perform work functions associated with collecting taxes and fees, and processing documentation associated with county taxes, tags, and titles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with departmental operations, per established procedures and within designated time frames.
  • Reviews documentation for accuracy, making corrections as appropriate; distributes documentation or maintains records as appropriate.
  • Calculates various taxes and fees (such as delinquent taxes, interest, penalties, etc.); calculates refunds.
  • Prepares and mails tax bills; adjusts/corrects tax bills.
  • Researches unpaid bills, incorrect payments, bad checks, returned mail, or other discrepancies.
  • Responds to questions, complaints, or requests for service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in general office work or a related field.
  • Candidates may qualify with any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Certificate of Appointment Notary Public.
