Description
We are looking for a Painter, Corrections!
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled work functions to prepare and paint the exterior and interior of County buildings and to perform other general maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled work functions to prepare and paint the exterior and interior of County buildings and to perform other general maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises a work crew of inmates assigned to work detail; monitors inmate activities to ensure security; instructs inmates on proper work techniques; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
- Performs a variety of painting work; prepares paint; color matches paint and materials; prepares site; covers furniture and floors; masks off areas to protect from paint; pressure washes facilities prior to painting; prepares surfaces for paint; cleans, patches, caulks, and sands surfaces; paints interior/exterior surfaces utilizing sprayer and other painting tools; performs other painting work as needed.
- Determines amount of materials needed to complete projects and gathers equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitors inventory levels and initiates requests for new or replacement materials as required.
- Ensures that all painting activities are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards: conducts inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Performs general building and grounds maintenance; repairs broken doors and locks; repairs/replaces trim and ceiling tiles, repairs and replaces tables, chairs, and racks, etc.
- Operates machinery and tools used in department projects including: pressure washer, power lift, testing instruments, measuring devices, carpentry tools, pneumatic tools, cleaning supplies, or hand tools.
- Vocational school graduate in general building maintenance
- Two (2) years of experience in commercial painting, building maintenance or a related field
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess and maintain valid Correctional Officer Certification.
