Judge Sparks is looking for a Legal Secretary!

The purpose of this classification is to perform routine and specialized clerical and secretarial tasks in support of the Judge’s office, including preparing court calendars, processing/maintaining information, documentation and records, and responding to requests for information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating language interpreter and sign language translators; distributes correspondence regarding scheduling and payments. 
  • Receives payments of registration fees or other departmental fees and services; records transaction; forwards revenues as appropriate. 
  • Maintains file system of various files/records, including jury trial rosters and files; prepares files, organizes documentation, and files documents in designated order; retrieves/replaces files; scans records into computer; shreds/destroys confidential or obsolete documents; conducts records maintenance activities in compliance with guidelines governing record retention. 
  • Maintains inventories of supplies, forms, and equipment; ensures availability of adequate supplies to complete work activities; initiates requests for new or replacement materials; maintains equipment; schedules repairs and/or maintenance as needed. 
  • Prepares, types, proofreads, and/or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, schedules, calendars, check requests, invoices, disclosure letters, plea agreements, tickets, warrants, records requests, disposition sheets, victim case files, inventory records, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, or other documents. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in administrative and clerical work.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
