We are looking for Equipment Operator I!

The purpose of this classification is to operate light to medium-duty equipment and perform manual labor to support the construction, repair, and maintenance of County roadways, parks, and public facilities.

Essential Functions:

• Operates a variety of light to medium-duty equipment, including tractors, mowers, limb cutters, and related tools, to maintain County roadways, parks, and public grounds.
• Performs vegetation control by mowing grass, cutting back trees, and removing brush or debris to ensure clear visibility and safe access for the public.
• Conducts daily equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, including checking fluids, greasing fittings, and reporting mechanical issues.
• Places safety signs, cones, and markers at work sites and follow all established safety procedures to protect employees and the traveling public.
• Clears roadways, trails, and park areas of fallen limbs, debris, and obstructions to maintain safe conditions.
• Completes work orders, maintains required logs and documentation, and communicates job status or issues to supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, and six (6) months of experience in equipment operations, groundskeeping, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
